The Miami Peace Festival, formerly the "Peace in the Hood Festival", was created by Demetrius Allen of the Urban Garden Foundation, in honor of DJ Uncle Al. In 2007 the festival's name changed to the Miami Peace Festival to broaden the movement in urban communities towards non-violence and peace.
The Urban Garden Foundation is involved in year-round activities that promote non-violence among the urban youth. The festival promotes a positive message and is a spin-off to The Urban Youth Year-Round Peace Conferences. The 8th Annual Miami Peace Fest last year, was a huge success! Over 10,000 people from all over South Fla came out to show their support for Miami's Peace Movement.
The Miami Peace Festival is a place for peace, music, food and fun for people of all nationalities. So come out and join us this year for the
9th Annual Miami Peace Festival taking place on MLK Blvd (62 Street) between 7th and 10th Ave on Saturday, August 14, 2010.
